| Saxophonist, bandleader and producer, Kenny Soderblom had 8 years with the CBS/Chicago staff orchestra, performing on all the woodwind instruments and then played on thousands of TV and radio commercials and in orchestras for the greats: Frank Sinatra, Quincy Jones, Tony Bennett, Nancy Wilson, Rosemary Clooney, Peggy Lee, Lena Horne and that's only the start of his credits. At the Mainstay, he'll join the Max n’ Friends house band: Chuck Redd on vibes, John Doughten on reeds, Robert Redd on piano, Steve Abshire on guitar, Tom Anthony on bass, Max Corzilius on drums with special guests vocalist Sue Matthews and pianist Dick Durham for an evening of improvisational jazz at its best. | Blending the blues of Mississippi John Hurt with the hot club swing of Django Reinhardt, the Blue Rhythm Boys have delighted audiences with their tight vocals and hot guitar playing since 1997. Tom Mitchell and Jim Stephanson both on guitar and vocals along with John Previti on bass and Vince McCool on trumpet bring authenticity and originality to their own smoky mix of hot jazz, blues and good-time hokum. | 24-year old Blues-Roots Guitarist & Singer-songwriter David Jacobs-Strain has been billed with T-Bone Burnett and Bob Weir, and opened for acts such as Los Lobos, Lucinda Williams, Taj Mahal, and Etta James. His current tour has him opening for Boz Scaggs. By the time he was 19, he had played at the Philadelphia Folk Festival and MerleFest. Since then he’s played the Newport Folk Festival, the Montreal Jazz Festival, the Lugano Blues to Bop Festival in Switzerland. He is a consummate finger-style and slide guitarist playing in the blues tradition with echoes of Skip James, Charlie Patton, Tommy Johnson, Fred McDowell and Robert Johnson but he is also a modern roots musician, singer, and songwriter and feels it’s important not to silence other influences: you'll hear reflections of his touchstone, American bluesman Taj Mahal but also the echoes of guitar music from around the world. The results merge into a quest to honor both the roots of American country blues and the possibilities that can grow from them. Call for reservations. Tickets are $15. |
