A
native Georgian, Brenda received her BA Degree at Berry College.
After moving to Maryland, she worked as Hostess in charge
of DuPonts Conference facility at Chesapeake Farms.
She retired from this position in 1998 in order to fulfill
her long time desire to become, hopefully, the best artist
she is capable of becoming.
The common thread in all her work is the critical importance
of light and color. In fact, she feels that light is the actual
subject in all her work. Her goal is to portray nature in
a realistic manner; she likes to get up close and allow the
viewer to see what he otherwise may have missed. She wants
each painting to capture an appreciation of the intricacies
of her subject, and because of this, she has quite often heard
the comment that her large flowers are reminiscent of Georgia
OKeefe.
