Manick
Burton studied basic pottery techniques formally in the ceramic
studio of Jean Marie in her native Brittany, France and
continued to learn in her own studio experimenting with clays
and glazes on high fired stoneware in a gas kiln. Manick moved
to the south of France where she learned techniques in earthenware
and low firing glazes.
In
1985, Manick moved to America and settled on the Eastern Shore
of Maryland in Rock Hall. Here she continues to explore form,
texture and color in a large variety of utilitarian items
as well as whimsical figures and artistic pieces. She has
shown her work in Annapolis and Wilmington, and has participated
in many local shows. Manick has taught children and adult
classes for many years. She enjoys putting a little sparkle
of life, fun and beauty in her work.
Her
work can be seen at the Rock Hall Gallery and by appointment,
or by chance, at her studio l'Atelier on Wilkins Avenue in
Rock Hall. Manick's work is represented at Rock Hall Gallery
(Main St) and at Texture Gallery (Rt. 20) in Rock Hall.
